Cookie Policy

ToonMax only uses strictly necessary cookies and local storage. We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, so we don't ask for your consent.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Local storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) is a similar technology. We explain all of them here.

EU law (the ePrivacy Directive) only allows cookies without consent when they are strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Those are the only ones we use, so we don't show a consent banner.

2. What we use

  • tm_session (cookie, ToonMax): keeps you logged in to your account. It holds a random code, is HttpOnly and secure, and expires after 30 days or when you log out. You can't log in without it.
  • tm_view (cookie, ToonMax): only set if you choose the web or TV version of the site, and remembers that choice for a year.
  • tm_lang (cookie, ToonMax): only set if you choose the site's language, and remembers that choice for a year.
  • tm_ann_lang (localStorage, ToonMax): the language you picked for the announcement videos. It stays until you clear it in your browser.
  • tm_locked_reload (sessionStorage, ToonMax): stops the page from reloading repeatedly when your access to the stream changes. It is cleared when you close the tab.
  • __cf_bm, cf_clearance (Cloudflare cookies): may be set only if Cloudflare needs to check that traffic isn't coming from bots or attacks. They are strictly necessary for security and short-lived, as set by Cloudflare.

We count online viewers without cookies: the code used exists only while the page is open and is not saved on your device. Older versions of the site set a cookie called tm_vid for this; we no longer use it and you can delete it.

3. External sites

When you open a link to an external site, that site's cookies are governed by its own policy, not this one.

4. How to control them

You can view and delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. If you block the tm_session cookie, you won't be able to log in or watch the stream.

If we ever use cookies that aren't strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.
